Hi, everybody! Welcome to Quantum Chemistry Prasad's blog page. This blog is the hub of all the educational resources about quantum chemistry that you can find online. You'll find blogs, videos, and articles in every field of the subject that I'm interested in--from molecular orbitals to density functional theory. This blog is an attempt to consolidate everything I've learned about quantum chemistry in the last two years. If you're wondering why this is my blog, it's because of all the questions that randomly pop in my head when I'm randomly surfing the Internet. I'm a physics graduate by education, but 2 years ago I started working in an engineering consultancy in Delhi. I quit my day job in May 2012 to pursue my doctoral studies in computational chemistry at UCONN. For these 2 years, I've been using internet to help me when life got really busy, when tutorials are tough to understand with Q chem problems, etc. These days I'd rather make a light-hearted account of my struggles with the material online. The topics covered here will be more of a personal interest--along with a few miscellaneous topics for an average fan of quantum chemistry. This blog is a beginner's guide to quantum chemistry, and what it really means to be "quantum". It starts from the basics, and ends with material that can be found in advanced textbooks on the subject. A lot of advanced material is left out, but as I write about each topic, this blog page will grow into something that resembles the textbook I always wanted to find online. Some of the materials here can be found in my YouTube channel, which I've been streaming from since the end of 2012. Subscribe to my channel so that you don't miss out anything interesting I upload there.Quantum chemistry is a vast field, with a lot of confusing terms and concepts. In this blog, I try to explain quantum chemistry in a way that's clear and simple enough for a beginner to understand it. But this is not always possible. In these paragraphs, you'll find the most commonly used terms for quantum chemistry along with their definitions. For a beginner, understanding the following section is a hard nut to crack, but I try to make it as easy as possible. If you're not an expert in simple linear algebra and calculus, take a look at this page. This topic is important to understand how the wave function works for an atom/molecule. It can also be found as an introductory chapter in any Q chem textbook.Learning the molecular orbitals of a molecule is crucial for its quantum mechanical description. I've divided this topic into three sections: The basics of molecular orbital theory, how we derive MOs from the wave function and the concept of normalized and unnormalized orbitals. cfa1e77820
